A fire alarm system has a number of devices working together to detect and warn people through visual and audio appliances when smoke, fire, carbon monoxide or other emergencies are present. Alarms can be either motorized bells or wall mountable sounders or horns. They can also be speaker strobes which sound an alarm, followed by a voice evacuation message which warns people inside the building not to use the elevators.
Clients may choose between automatic fire alarms which send audio-visual alerts throughout the building to alert the occupants, when their heat or smoke detectors are activated; or manual alarms, which have pull stations stationed around your building. When a fire is seen or smelled by one of the building occupants, they simply pull the lever and alert the occupants.
Fire alarm systems come in two distinct types:
Conventional Fire Alarms
Conventional fire alarms include a number of different “zones” that are hardwired to your central control panel. These systems allow you to be able to put separate fire alarms in each section of your building and help to monitor if an alarm is broken.
Addressable Fire Alarms
These fire alarms are also called “intelligent systems” as they monitor the fire alarms in your building. Addressable alarms allow you to choose between automatic and manual alarms. Each
